I probably should have checked this the other day - the Victorian bird atlas of 1987 notes a small, isolated (probably feral) population of Crested Pigeons in Healesville (NE of the metro area) - maybe this is the source of eastern birds in Melbourne? There were no records in 1987 from the Gippsland Plains - otherwise suitable habitat. -- ++++++++++++ Lawrie Conole 28 Reid Street Northcote, VIC 3070 AUSTRALIA lconole[at]gmail.com 0419 588 993 =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
