I heard a rumour in the mid-90s of a release in the Braeside/Dingley area.
But Mike Carter's opinion was that they were part of a movement of "dry
country" birds including Galahs to the south of Melbourne. An early
indicator of birds responses to climate change?
But then von Mueller's list for the Melbourne Botanic Gardens in the late 19th century includes Crested Bellbird! Michael Norris |
