If you want to get into the technical details, one good site is http://www.flashlightreviews.com/ They don't review the model Alan mentions but they do cover various similar torches at: http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews_index/reviews_index_incandhp.htm The very last in the table "Vector 1M CP Spotlight" is the sort of spotlight Tony&Paul have mentioned. I'm fond of a 5W Luxeon LED torch very similar to this one: http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/xtremelite_alx-654c.htm It doesn't quite have the throw to be a good spotlight - partly because the beam is too broad. But light, convenient and a joy to use - sadly expensive ($160 at Jaycar).
