Greetings!

The birding equivalent of Pokemon Cards already exists- they're called
Yowies! For those of you who don't know them, they are hollow chocolate
figures, each containing a plastic egg with the parts to assemble an
animal. They are on their 6th series at the moment- 4 series of
Australian/NZ animals, 2 series of mixed animals including many Australian
animals, and a series of extinct Australian creatures. I collect them (I'm
29 & an active bird watcher/nature enthusiast.), they cover my study & I
can see at the moment: Cockatiel, Major Mitchell, Jacana, Kiwi, Kea, Grass
Owl, Tawny Frogmouth, Masked Lapwing, Pelican, Cassowary, to name few. The
idea as I understand it was conceived by Bryce Courtney & they have sold
extremely well for Cadbury. The quality & detail is generally good, though
the beak on the Kea is a travesty! I think they do an excellent job of
arousing interest in both Australian & world wildlife- including birds.

Jeff Crocombe

PS If anyone has kids who collect (or if you do!) I have plenty of doubles
to swap!
