The simple answer is that young people aren't all that keen on joining
clubs these days - bushwalking clubs have had a demographic hole for
about 10 years now.  Young people are still out there bushwalking, but
not in an organised sense.

Perhaps you want a birding equivalent of pokemon cards ...
