I'd guess they are probably using MMC or the SPI-like bus as apposed to
SD, it's also possible they reverse engineered the bus. I'm not sure,
you might want to check the LKML...

documentation on the SD bus. You may want to contact the SD association

Yes, the TS-7800 will have the same restrictions unless the SD
association sends Technologic Systems a legal document stating they will
not sue Technologic Systems for releasing source code or other
documentation pertaining to the SD spec.
