It has been quite a long time since my last external building, so I
don't have any size for an external-built module. But FWIW on my
Debian sid I've:
=====
:~$ ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.18*/kernel/drivers/media/video/pwc/
/lib/modules/2.6.18-1-686/kernel/drivers/media/video/pwc/:
total 92
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 87091 2006-10-22 01:47 pwc.ko

/lib/modules/2.6.18/kernel/drivers/media/video/pwc/:
total 92
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 86610 2006-10-27 16:09 pwc.ko
:~$
=====

2.6.18-1-686 is a stock Debian kernel while 2.6.18 is a one I compiled
using the Debian way (thus the make-kpkg script).

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
