I beileve the reason for this is that some older operating systems (such as= those using FAT16) cannot handle files larger than 2GB. Most modern syste= ms can handle larger files. Remember the Olympus LS-11 is a fairly old re= corder by modern computer standards and it is likely that when it was desig= ned, these 2GB limitations would have been critical to people being able to= get their files off? It does read cards that are FAT32 formatted, but I a= lways assumed it was a backwards compatibility issue. =0D =0D It does have the benefit of preventing a single file error from ruining a = whole day of recording though.=0D |
