I agree that it's a combination of awareness and training.
After a while it got to be a curse...
It's like everyone is carrying around a built in filtering. When you begin
to record nature sounds you start to actively listen both with and without
headphones (amplified) so you are increasing your awareness and you are
training your ears. Now when I'm out with a friend ha can say -Wow it's so
quiet and peaceful here, and I go -WHAT? All this noise is driving me nuts!
It's the built in filter that we recordists have rubbed off our brain that
makes us hear more.
In the beginning when I started recording it was mostly frustrating when I
got home and thought I had some great quiet recordings just to find out
that they where full of human noise... Now I hear the noise when I'm
recording so I don't get surprised when listening on the recordings at home=
.
The positive thing for me is that I have started to manage to turn the
filter on and off. Now, I can have the "filter" on when I'm not looking for
sounds or recording, and then turn it off when I want to. Ok, it's still a
curse sometimes and I might not be able to completely turn the filter on,
but It's a lot better than it was for a while...
I hope you will be able to "control" the "brain filter" a little better in
the future so it doesn't drive you nuts! :)
