Phanton power and battery power

Hi,

If I use phantom and battery power (eg my Senn KG-ME66 mic) at the same time
does that make any difference to the recording quality. Or is it just a waste
of battery power.

Stupid question probably, but I have been having some issues of loosing good
recordings when the battery power runs down on the mic and does it not have any
low power warning light, just that stupid red LED that just flashes on briefly
when you turn it on. So I just thought in some cases I could turn on phantom
power as a back up when the on board mic battery looses charge.

Thanks,

Andrew
