thank you all.
confusion abounds.

the LS recorders appear in different sections of the "list".
don't know how I would try those in europe =85 due to exchange rate they ar=
e much more expensive, also, they have the same numbers as those here.

Olympus quit selling the LS10 and LS11 a yr. ago. they now sell the LS10S
Does anyone know the difference? One reader said this:
With only 2 GB of built-in flash memory, the LS-10S appears to be similar t=
o the LS-5 sold in Europe. The reported battery life on 2 AA cells is 10 h=
ours, much less than the top of the line LS-11. ...

The good news is that the LS-5 preamp is identical to the excellent LS-11. =
So the LS-10S should have low self noise, and should not have the bass rol=
l-off (like a low frequency filter you couldn't turn off) that the original=
 LS-10 came with.

re click: I won't always be recording the way you record. I often pause. I'=
m doing multi-media art installations. the recordings I did with the mini d=
isc have a noticeable sound when pause and start.

my main subject, however, is prairie grasses where I can set up an array. u=
nfortunately setting is a huge ranch 30 min. from Tulsa, OK (don't yet know=
about background sounds there). I live in Oregon. a cousin has this ranch.

B&H is selling the LS10S for $50 off today only.

thank you.

also like Vicky, I think it's something that in our line of recording is c=
ompletely irrelevant. My advice would be, if you can pick up an LS-1O cheap=
ly do so; I don't think you'd regret it. It's superbly built, and is appare=
ntly more user friendly than the latest 100. From what I've read, that's a =
nightmare.
