If using a Mac, you could make an Aggregate Device in Core Audio &
clock the second unit's SPDIF input from the SPDIF output of the first
unit, as long as you can still choose the analog inputs as the audio
source.

covered already with an FR2-LE and D50. If the driver allows you can
gang multiple usbpre2's it would be very nice for surround recording /
processing with a laptop. Although an expensive one. >>
The Mac driver for the original USBPre was always its Achilles heel.
It just didn't work very consistently with Macs, in addition to the
fact of forcing the user to create an Aggregate Device, i.e. what
appears to the computer as two separate pieces of hardware, just to
access the input & output routing of the USBPre at the same time, a
fact which Sound Devices apparently never really figured out.
Hopefully the new device will have an improved Mac driver.
