I think it is the other way around as the 316 plug has a much smaller tip t= han an igranic/TRS. Whereas putting an igranic/TRS into a 316 socket can ca= use damage. Phil On 6 Apr 2009, at 18:14, "Bird Recordist" <> wro= te: The BBC throw in another name to describe unbalanced =C2=BC=E2=80=9D jack p= lugs (such as guitar leads) and that is igranic. It was used to positively identify any plug or socket that wasn=E2=80=99t p= ost office. If a post office plug, or 316 to give its proper name was inserted into a = =C2=BC=E2=80=9D socket, then the different tip shape could damage the socket. They still seem to call balanced =C2=BC=E2=80=9D plugs as TRS through. Andy UK That's a reference I've never come across. I mix a lot of concerts in metric-based countries & the standard term for these connectors is "Jack". |
