Agreed, a few years ago i caught a bbc show in which they played audio reco=
rdings the
german army had made of British POW's in ww2 to the ancestors of the prison=
ers, it was
hugely compelling watching (and listening) One particular eye opener was of=
 a recording they
played of a soldier to his 90+ sister who although although recognised the =
voice found it
hard to understand how much a dialect can change - obviously of more much m=
ore interest
to a linguist but compelling all the same
