I keep trying to slap my hands away when I see this kind of misinformation. It is professional audio practice, not audiophile mythology, that calls for 24 bit. Audiophiles are more concerned that the wires point the right direction and are expensive enough. The Sound Devices page and audio demos should be enough to show it. But if you mind is made up that's fine for you.
