I have a 744T and find its quality excellent - among the best I've ever
used. Great preamps and convertors!
Since mine is four track, I sometimes use a Millenia Media HV3 for the
second pair and the pres are nearly indistingushable. Don't have a
Lunatec to compare it with, but I feel confident you will find the SD
box at least as good if not better. And it is so extremely compact and
efficient, even if it weren't as good you'll love it. I think you will
be very happy you changed. Over the shoulder on battery is an amazing
freedom for field recording, compared to a laptop with separate pres.
If you can make a test reference recprding with your Lunatec, and then
use the same mics and setting with the SD, load them side by side in
the computer you can tell US how it compares. Perhaps you can demo one?
