After hours of thinking about it and trying different things I reached the conclusion it really is a non issue. I set the gain by the sound of the bass in the field and that really is good enough. I talk a slate while walking around my surround mic so that I have documented the location of the channels as well as the location and particulars of my recording. I tweak in post as needed. Rich |
