Ammo Box is cheap at $8.00 but I do use Pelican for mic storage. I
will try crumpled up aluminum foil to see if that heat sinks and
reforms easy. Good point on the plastic viewing, I will install some
plastic view holes in the top with the power and mic connections.
It is standard procedure to have all equipment tied and/or locked to
the canoe itself in case of getting dumped. That way you only have to
catch up to one item. I will travel solo in the back of the canoe not
in the center, and will have offset weight in the front being one very
large deep cycle marine battery. In the spring there is only one
portage on the entire Mississippi River and that is the only dam (mile
mark about 530) above the lock & dam #1. Canoes are allowed through
all the locks without charge.
