not enough surface area on the case. Runs hot outside a case.
Put it in a box and heat is beyond normal design spec for long life of
electrical equip.

Will report further when I have figured out how much of a heat sink is
needed and which is the best type.  My first attempt at a top case
sink replacement is too big, but works great.
