I don't know how much to expect to pay for a good ADC and pre-amps (and whatever else I'd need in order to use a good microphone). Add on some more for power supply and miscellaneous components, and we're in the $300-400 range even by a fairly conservative estimate, with weatherproofing, microphone, and storage all being unaccounted for. What figure should I be aiming at instead? (I ask as though I know what I'm doing, but I don't really. I'm just trying to figure out if it's even worth trying to do something like this at the moment.) -- ams |
