Also an interface (LEDs and LCD panel?), connectors (remarkably
expensive!), and perhaps a strategy for providing phantom for mics...
and the stix, do they have integrated batteries? A charger? The
ability to use outboard supplies? :)

Fwiw my "day job" company looked into such solutions for a different
project (but one with similar complexity and sophistication) with the
same idea of leveraging a pre-engineered general purpose product. In
the end the fact that you're already paying a big (eg 4-8x) multiplier
over component costs took all of these types of things out of the
running and we designed from the ground up with an ARM processor.
