Hi Lori-
Going on http://www.sonosax.ch/SXM2/sxm2.html, the sXM2 has
Noise 76dB gain with better than -129,2dBu, 20Hz to 20kHz, with 150
Ohm source and will operate from
External Power: 12V DC to 24V DC, minimum 30mA, maximum 80mA.
Running the 744T and the Sonasax on a 14.4 voltage sled of
rechargeables would be one way to stay powered for many many hours in
the field.

The one draw back I have with my MP-2 is it lower gain compared to
the 744T's mic pre gain of 70dB. With (quieter) gain of 76dB, the
SXM2 might make a better fit.

The SXM2 is a" transformer-less" design
http://www.trewaudio.ca/articles/sonosax_sx.htm and should be very
compatible with the 744T's sound quality (although I've not been able
to distinguish transformer vs. transformer-less sound qualities
myself with the 744T/MP-2 combination I use regularly ;-) )
Congratulations on readying for some powerful field capabilities. Rob
D.
