Problem mic, no sound

Hi all

I have a pair of WL183's recording and using PIP on a Sony MZ- RH10. One
of the mics decided to play up. The problem is the only sound I can get
is humming with the occasional crackling. Can get a thud noise when give
the mic a good tap.

What happened. Did some fiddling around with both mics on the Fri.
night, getting ready to go away for the weekend. On the Sat morning when
recording, only 1 mic was working. After some checking, both connections
were working ( swapped the mics over). Later in the day the a wire on
the connection on the good mic did go. Swap connections over, which got
me through the weekend. On the bad mic, there was a lot of crackling
coming through when recording which was expected.

Do I assume the worse? Any advise appreciated.

David
