Over the past year or so there have been several sellers offering new
MKH at prices slightly below list. Some don't get bids, because for ebay
they are high priced. Treat them like a retailer and go off with google
and look other places and you may beat or match their price.

To give you a idea of a good buy (and rare) on ebay, I got my matched
pair of MKH-20 for $1199 for the pair, and I was the only bidder. The
singles, including the two MKH-80's all came in well below that. Takes
lots of watching ebay to get the really low prices, however. Current
market there seem to be enough bidders willing to bid them up more.

Sennheiser will charge about half new price or so for a complete capsule
replacement, or at least that's what it cost me for a MKH-60 that died.
So even a dead current MKH can have value if you get it low enough.

One of my MKH-30's came from Russia, $450. No one bid, probably because
they worried about the deal location. It came out of Russia's big mic
company, was in excellent shape, and was a very smooth transaction as
they had it all organized. Shipped faster than from many US sellers.
Several of my mics came where others got too worried about risk. Taking
on risk can save money if done with care. I do read whatever feedback
there is, check what else the seller has offered etc. And generally pay
only with paypal or postal money order, or if I have to, credit card.
All of which have ways of getting back at the seller. I have yet to
loose on ebay, but even if I did I'm way, way ahead.
