My 722 came with an Energizer ER C520 - 1850 mAh (and $30 from Amazon).
With a pair of power-hugry Earthworks SRO mics and display backlight
mostly off, I got about 2hrs 15min record time at 24/44.1. I let it
roll until it shut itself down ... the last file was there fine as
if I'd pushed STOP.
I didn't find any really to-the-point buying guides online
for replacement batteries, especially the higher capacity one.
Then when I was in Radio Shack I noticed that they had 3600 mAh
battery #23-384 on clearance for $10 less than their 1850 mAh
NP style batter, so I bought the last one that store had. As
soon as I got it home I figured out why they were clearing those
out -- it was too fat to fit in the SD722! But after a bit of
filing on the battery's plastic housing, I managed to stuff it
in and get it charged. Seems to work OK, but I haven't had the
occasion to run from it on a single session to see how many
hours I can get out of it.
And by the way, I've got a return authorization for the 722
to go back along with the pair of Earthworks mics to see why
I get loud pops in one channel (and quieter pops in the other).
My unit supposedly has the capacitor mod for the phantom power.
