It is a design by me that as is normal gets a "cute" name.
It is intended to be a four channel surround sound microphone that
lets you listen to ambient sound from a location in full emersion.
It is based on 4 microphones each utilizing barrier effect with each
at 90 degrees to each other. Each corner pair has separation of just
slightly greater than the distance that separates your ears.
This is one design of under 6 available that is intended to achieve
degree accurate representation of a sound field. Besides my personal
bias regarding the quality of the sound, the biggest advantage of this
design over any other is that there are no patent issues regarding it
and so anyone may build one.
