tascam da-p1 vs. pre-amp

i had a question about using condensor microphones and pre-amplifiers.
would the pre-amps on a tacam da-p1 dat deck be sufficient or should one
rather go with an external pre-amp, such as the sound devices mix pre

i want to record with two oktava mc-012 condensor microphones.
i currently use a sony tcd-d8 dat. the size is great, but it has no
phantom power. i want to upgrade; the question is whether to buy a
pre-amp or to buy another dat which has phantom power (such as the
tascam da-p1).
