I would say yes and no to this. In pre's it probably works, but not near
so in mics. Mics are like the speakers. At the high end all put out
quality sound. But they do differ, in ways that can be heard. At the
high end you tend to choose which quality sound you like in choosing a
mic. Or which one fits the subject better. It does not mean the ones you
did not choose don't put out quality sound, but that the one you ended
up with puts out quality sound that fit's your style better.
Of course there are other considerations that don't have to do with
sound quality. like size, shape, weight. Or sensitivity to wind. Or
environmental ruggedness. Or battery usage.
