Personal backup will do this clone for you easily, at least I know it
will in OSX. You do not have to clone onto the same size disk, any disk
or partition that will hold it will do. One of my floater backup hard
disks actually has 4 partitions with clones of 4 different macs on it.
(you have to move the disk to the machine to do that)

I don't use iPhoto, but it's typical of the small minds now at Apple.
There are 8 hard disks connected to my mac, and dozens of areas but all
over the place they keep putting things in generic name folders from
everything, all only on the system disk. It may be fine if you are so
limited in your thinking that you only produce a few dozen files that
end up in "documents", but if you produce thousands of files it sure
does not work. Same with "applications", many of their's insist on being
in the root of that folder, not organized at all.

Actually it's worse. There's a user's documents, a root documents. You
have to be careful and check them all sometimes to find out where
something went. To say nothing of the several Library folders they hide
things in. It's like they had this limited selection of names and were
not allowed to use more. If you want a real nightmare, look at the name
repetition in the system itself.

Of course for this group tossing everything in a single "audio" folder
is a joke.

I upgraded after Filemaker Mobile 7 came out, have to keep those two in
sync. It was very annoying that the Mobile (for my Palm) took so long
after 7 was out to arrive. Mobile still is not up to speed on all the
features of 7 I use, but it's better. Regular Filemaker Pro 7 has run
fine for me. I did not get the impression it simplified much. Filemaker
is pretty easy to use to start with. At least everything including the
scripts it takes to prep the database for the Palm still work.
