I've got a bit of a advantage over most of the palms. Mine is a Tungsten
C, which for those that do not know has a built in keyboard. I've never
had to learn the fine art of entering text with a stylus.
That would make it possible to use it for field notes. The built in
keyboard is slower than a regular keyboard, but very usable once you get
used to it. But, I too use writing field notes the old way. Though on
cards printed for the job instead of notebooks. And enter it at home.
My palm is more for bringing things along I might want to refer to. Only
one I'm entering into regularly out there is my gas mileage log.
Filemaker Mobile is pretty trouble free. Does take a little setting up
in your main file, the palm screen is small, and Filemaker Mobile does
not do quite everything regular Filemaker can do. The one I tripped over
was it lacks repeating fields. So, I use a filemaker script to format
the repeating fields into regular ones to send to the palm.
