hello all,
hello myrmika,

i am also interested into emulating animal communication signals.

i am thinking about realizing some kind of simple maxmsp patches (a
programming software used for real-time applications) using both
sampling and synthesis, in order to stimulate animal communication
behaviour. the idea is to have a kind of instrument that one could use
with pre-defined patterns or spectral, but which allow to play or
modulate "sentences"...
of course it's not for disturbing them or replacing them (!!!), but
rather to make some experience of asymetrical acoustic communication.

well, for the moment that's just ideas. nothing done yet. just wondering
if it is possible.

i just read a very interesting book that relates and analyses the
experience of teaching human langages to primate (in french sorry _
dominique lestel "parole de singes"), and i was wondering if anyone
tested the opposite experience : to learn birdsong and trying to
communicate... this can sounds very naive (yes i am ! :-) but can happen
fascinating experiences... and such traditions exist where people can
whistle bird language and make them react (in eastern europe).
i would be interest in references, litterature about that...

friendly,

yannick.
