Noise reduction processing is something you do when you have to, but
it's always a compromise. The results are usually disappointing, and
at best only acceptable. Take it from one who owns DINR, Ionizer, and
Waves Restoration.
The challenge is to find quiet places to record! In the U.S. the
National Park Service has recently begun to recognize soundscape as
one of the values of natural environments. This doesn't mean they're
doing anything about it, but it's a huge step in the right direction.
Find the remaining quiet places in your country, and work to preserve them!
