Hi Mark,

Thanks for that. Yes I should have been aware of that but I missed it. Although I plead my comment was a light hearted observation on the bird's behaviour and hopefully within context of Ian's contribution, more than a serious taxonomic comment. Indeed my comment was built on a reverse pun of Ian's subject of "Clamouring", back to where it came from viz "Clamorous". It is such an odd word, I have always associated it with "glamorous". Yes I have seen your book but didn't notice that aspect. I do have "Schodde and Mason" but that is one BIG book (a most impressive tome) and is hard to be aware of all items. I would mention that it does not mention Clamorous Reed-Warbler (as far as I could see). Sadly, in having not mentioned this species, it doesn't specifically draw attention to that a different taxonomy (from what most of the general bird books show) is given therein. Yes it gives a name of Australian Reed-Warbler Acrocephalus australis but does not highlight the change, so as to make it really obvious. Maybe a summary of the major changes, published in Emu, would have given the bigger changes more prominence and more of us would have had the benefit of the work that had been done. I have just checked HANZAB, which does specifically draw attention to that a new taxonomy is used. So, good on them.  I'm sorry I also missed this aspect for my GBS book (but no one pointed it out to me either). It is not the bird that has changed, just our label for it.
