Look, in my Layton's ... layperson's opinion ... the object protruding from the pelican's bill is the remnants of a water skier's ski. The rest of the water skier's gear, along with his/her body are now within the pelican's bill, or down in its guts, being subjected to the bird's powerful digestive juices. C'mon, the pelicans!
