Syd,

A most interesting comment on Lyrebirds which I have no intention to argue with as my Lyrebird knowledge could fit on the back of a stamp and leave room for the weekly shopping list.

But I am interested in your statement that young Lyrebirds don't imitate other birds but learn from their parents needs a little further explanation.

The imitation must originate somewhere. It is the adult birds that learn these calls and pass them on?

Somewhere some time in the past the calls were imitated.

Any comments.
