My greatest concern with any amalgamation is that the supergroup may dispense of one of the two journals, being Australian Field Ornithology. This journal is essential as Emu has become (is trying to become??) a journal which is really only of interest to the scientific community whereas AFO has scientific papers that are of interest to and are able to be read and understood by non-scientists, which would be the majority of birdwatchers.
