Another course for having your voice heard and have some impact on the nature of this development is to comment on the EPBC Referral for the project. I've checked the site and can find nothing on it at present. (But, despite their constant attempts to make the site more user friendly, I always have trouble finding stuff I know is there, let alone searching for prospective referrals.) The site is http://www.environment.gov.au/epbc/notices/index.html To my knowledge few projects have been halted by this process, and in my personal experience NONE. But it is a way of making the proponents aware that people ARE watching and DO CARE and hopefully achieving SOME (un-monitored in my experience) improved environmental approval conditions or outcomes.
