Surely there are more impacts than just cats. Dogs are not innocent by any
means, I remember reading once that dogs kill large numbers of koalas in
some areas, and have seen what damage they can do to local reptile
populations. And then there is the impact of habitat modification caused by
housing and introduced plants in gardens.
I am not downplaying the impact of cats, as a cat owner I know how much damage cats can do, and watching neighbours cats means I can totally understand why some people become anti-cat zealots. But the problem of uncontrolled cat ownership (as in not keeping cats indoors at night (at least), claw clipping, proper feeding etc) are just a symptom of peoples apathy towards the environment.
