Have been interested in the correspondence as
result of Peter Irwin's proposal to run a beginners bird watching
course.
As a beginner, can I offer a suggestion that I
have found of great assistance in my learning process.
I have found since I purchased a digital camera
with a good zoom lens that it has opened up a new world for me. When out I snap
as many shots as I can of birds, arrive home and review shots.
The ones I am not sure about, I check in the
Simpson and Day and/or check the index of photos available on the wonderful site
run by Tom Tarrant ( Australian Bird Image Database ).
I have also learnt that it is better to sit and
wait in a spot that looks of value and wait quietly for the birds to come to
you.They really are inquisitive things!
