Hi Birders, I would like to echo somehting Ricchi Coughland said and that is to encourage new birders to seek advice about binoculars and to start the course off by teaching people how to use their own binoculars. Most beginners start with little opera glass type binoculars which are hopeless for beginners trying to find the birds in the trees and or they have no idea how to adjust binoculars to make them suitable for their own use. When I take a "birding for beginners course", I find it necessary to start the course with a hands on talk about binoculars.
