Everyone,

As an aviculturist can I just say that I keep both
pure and mutation birds. In my opinion the wild type
is still the most desirable but there is a place in
the hobby for colour mutations. These birds are
incredibly popular but I think it is up to all
aviculturists to maintain a pure line of the
particular species they keep whether it be Zebra
Finches, Budgerigars, Gouldians or Golden-shouldered
Parrots.
There are many species where obtaining wild type birds
is still very easy. Not all, in fact not even a
majority of aviculturists are out to make a profit.
Most birdkeepers care just as much about wild birds
and the environment as most birdwatchers. Don't bash
us all.
Probably didn't make much sense but I had to get it
off my chest.
Cheers,
Grant Brosie
