Hi,

I was also saddened to learn of the passing of Peter.  I had the pleasure of driving Peter around Barham for 3 days in July of this year.  Sitting on the ground under a gum tree  by the side of a creek, eating our lunch and chatting, we discussed many things, not necessarily about birds, but always the conversation flowed easily.
As I was leaving after the third day, I remembered I hadn't asked Peter if he'd mind signing my "Birds of the Barham District".  He happily obliged.
In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't say "I'll do it next time".
The highlight of those 3 days, I think for both of us, was visiting the Whymoul Forest and having a Gilbert's Whistler come to within 3 metres, landing on the top of a bush and calling. Binoculars weren't required. Magical.
I didn't know Peter all that well but I will certainly remember him for a long time. Some people just touch our lives and leave a lasting impression.

Marlene
