No doubt over-doing a shallow topic but a little more about colours in
Australian bird names.
Ian Clark pointed out I'd missed two colours, Crimson and Plum, making
40 from the Christidis and Boles list:
Azure Black Blue Bronze Brown Buff Chestnut Cinnamon Citrine Crimson
Emerald Fawn Flame Flesh Golden Green Grey Leaden Nankeen Nutmeg Olive
Orange Pink Plum Purple Red Rose Ruddy Rufous Russet Scarlet Silver
Slaty Sooty Straw Sulphur Tawny Turquoise White Yellow
Or 41 if you count Russell's suggestion of "Pale Yellow". And a possible
42nd, "Rusty" is lurking in the supplementary list in Rusty-tailed
Gerygone, what ever that it is, or isn't.
And as Marilyn Davis has pointed out, alternaive Australian common names
give you more colours including Lilac, Lavender and Ash.
