Tony,
I've had one other supporting my contention: Darryl
McKay from Bankstown, NSW. I thought I had detected a
Melbourne-based bias in the interest shown on the
BIRDING-AUS mail, and I guess that includes SA with
your common interest in your other strange and unusual
aerial pursuits. I suspect the correlation with the
relative rarity of birders and twitchers in Sydney is
that most Sydneysiders consider that they've got a
real life.
I'd just like to cheep in here Bruce and say:
G'day Bruce, (nudge nudge wink wink),
Most of the Sydneysiders that I correspond with, and
there are many, say they have a reel life too :^D.
Reel as in fishing! and many Syndeysiders that I know
go on a pelagic trips, far out to sea, way past that
little ole bay you have up there. Sad the quality of
water in your bay is not as good as Port Phillip and
Western Port waters :-] could that be the reason?
Score so far:
Southern Pelicans 2 Sydneysiders 0

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
