I too have seen blackbirds in undisturbed (relatively) wet forests, in Tarra-Bulga NP and in the foothills of the Baw Baws in Victoria, as well as in the Otways, the Strzeleckis (in Sth Gippsland, Victoria), Toolangi State Forest, and over in East Gippsland as well.

My parents have a 5 acre property in the Strzeleckis, with large numbers of blackbirds.  The major negative interaction with other native species we have seen (and there may have been more that we didn't see) is predating/attacking blue wren nests.

We have at least two pairs of Bassian Thrush that regularly nest on our property (some years, three or four pairs), and they seem to coexist well with the Blackbirds.  We often see both species within a metre or two of each other on the front lawn, and they mostly just ignore each other.
