If you read the howto on mrouted it suggest that
"...it is necessary to advise the kernel which multicast groups we are
interested in. That is, we have to ask the kernel to "join" those multicast
groups. Depending on the underlying hardware, multicast datagrams are filtered
by the hardware or by the IP layer (and, in some cases, by both). Only those
with a destination group previously registered via a join are accepted."
I was never able to successfully get mrouted compiled and running on our TS7200
so used smcroute instead. But with smcroute running in daemon mode receiving
multicast packets worked fine.
