Hi Jim,

I tried different commands to setup default route, including the one you guys provided me and didn't work out.  I'm assuming it didn't work out because I didn't write or use the commands correctly (wrong address ? wrong syntax ?).  Since I'm pretty new to Linux, its hard for me to find out cause of failure.  I manage to make the network work in DHCP.  This is fine, I will learn how to make network work in static later because it didn't work out, and my main objective is not that for now.

Also, about mistakes in manual, if you look at page 16, item 4.5 of TS-72xx user's manual, it specifies network configuration files to be located in folder : /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth0.  This file and folder doesn't exist on the TS-Linux I received from EmbeddedArm/TS.  I can point out many example like that.

Being a real Linux beginner, these kind of mistakes are making my project difficult, but that's fine with me.  I strongly believe that when it's easy, you learn nothing.  The path is not difficult, the difficulties are the path (sorry, this is probably a pretty bad French to English translation).  I'm happy to make the move to Linux.

I'm going back to my TS-7300, this one doesn't complete the boot sequence (when I write «exit» at prompt) since I FLASHed the sdimage.dd file from web in SD card.

Cheers!

Pierre

Actually the problem you had was that you did not have a default route set.
A couple of us gave you the commands to enter to setup the def. route, but
I didn't see you try them.

The reason it works with DHCP is that your DHCP server (your gateway
router, I presume) told your dhcp client software what default route to
have. When you use static configuration YOU have to set these things up.

All this is standard stuff and not at all specific to the TS board.
