Actually the problem you had was that you did not have a default route set.
A couple of us gave you the commands to enter to setup the def. route, but
I didn't see you try them.
The reason it works with DHCP is that your DHCP server (your gateway
router, I presume) told your dhcp client software what default route to
have. When you use static configuration YOU have to set these things up.
All this is standard stuff and not at all specific to the TS board.
