Hi Dan --
I can't help with RTAI, but I wonder if you really need the hard RT
guarantees of RTAI? The ep93xx is quite well supported in the 2.6
kernels, which means you could use high resolution timers (microsecond
resolution) and also the low latency config options, all with a stock
kernel. That way you get most of the benefits of RT, but none of
complications of RTAI / adeos. You won't get the hard RT guarantees
with a vanilla kernel, but guaranteed RT response doesn't necessarily
mean fast response.
You might consider building & testing such a 2.6 kernel to see if it
meets your needs. I think that would be easier than RTAI, if for no
other reason than the number of RTAI users on this board seems quite
small.

IIRC, there is a patch inside that tarball that needs to be applied.

I've only ever seen RTAI mentioned for TS-9 kernels, not TS-11. How
do you know you are running a RT version of TS-11? Can you boot the
appropriate TS-9 RT kernel that *will* load the modules, for testing?
