despite the fact that TS provides a better support for their product than other vendors, if one opts for a development package (on a CF card, for example), it is almost impossible to get a kernel module (other than the ones strictly needed for the TS7xxxs) compiled  correctly.

  For one, there are issues with important modules for the shipped devel. package (the buggy ftdi_sio in 2.4.26-ts11 is one of them).
  Second, I tried to compile the linux-gpib package for the 2.4 kernels. It was an almost impossible task (with the kernel sources on the TS website), although on other systems this process worked flawlessly.
   As for the alsa audio on the TS72xx with a 2.4.26-ts11 kernel... So the only way to get more things done with external hardware is to switch to a 2.6 kernel (just a thought).

Thanks for your comments, but please let me explain why we think you
are mistaken again regarding this issue (hopefully for the last time).

The following paragraph can be found in some places at our website and
documentation:

"TS-Linux
The TS-7200 SBC's are shipped standard with the TS-Linux embedded
distribution installed in the on-board Flash memory. TS-Linux is a
COMPACT Linux distribution, based on Busybox, ideal for SMALL
footprint systems and used as a DEMONSTRATION OS on the TS-7200 computers.
* TS-Linux DEMONSTRATION distribution for TS-7200 (03-31-2006) "

For example, visit the Linux for ARM page and the Linux for ARM manual.

Similarly, in many places we recommend Debian Linux or cross-tools
instead of Busybox for embedded development. From the Linux manual:

"In order to keep the distribution small, TS-Linux has small support
for the GNU tools. Therefore, a C/C++ development environment is not
installed. If the user's main target is development, the Debian Linux
distribution is highly recommended. A cross-compile environment based
on a PC is also an option for development. "

We advertise our products as "out-of-the- box" because we ship them
with complete driver support to our hardware under Linux. Users are
able to experience embedded Linux, either through TS-Linux or Debian,
right after power our boards up. In spite of problems created by
software not written by TS, we provide all the tools and source code
packages we use through our website. Also, TS engineers spend great
part of their working hours providing FREE support helping customers
with issues which are, in most of the cases, not related to our
hardware but related to Linux. This is certainly more than you can get
FOR FREE from most embedded HARDWARE VENDORS.

If you have constructive suggestions on how TS should advertise,
please let us know. Also, if you find support of other customers on
the issues you pointed out, TS will be fast addressing them. However,
please make sure to get the right and complete information before you
(publicly) make your points.

As Eddie mentioned in a previous post, there are many ways to address
the issue you found. If you still can't get it resolved after Eddie
suggestions, please give us a call and we will be able to help you.
